Dumpster Rental in Lemont, Illinois
A genuinely old canal town built from local limestone, sitting on real topography — the only town in our footprint where grade is a routine consideration.
(708) 523-9401Serving Lemont · 60439The only town here where terrain matters
Lemont is built on bluffs above the canal and the Des Plaines valley, and it is the one place in our entire service area where grade is a routine part of planning a delivery. Streets in the old village climb. Drives run downhill toward houses. Some properties sit well below or well above the road.
A roll-off container is set by sliding it off the truck's rails and retrieved by winching it back up, and both behave differently on a slope. None of it is a problem when we know beforehand. All of it is a problem when the driver arrives expecting flat ground. Describe the drive when you book — which way it slopes and how steeply is enough.
Limestone, and the town built from it
Lemont's older buildings are made of local dolomite limestone quarried right here, which gives the old village its particular look and gives us an unusual debris category. Stone is extremely dense. A small volume of it reaches a container's weight limit quickly, and it belongs in a dedicated heavy container with brick, block and concrete rather than mixed with general waste.
Inside those older houses it is the familiar pre-war mix: plaster over lath, heavy timber, cast iron. Renovation here produces consistently heavier loads than the room sizes suggest.
Up on the plateau it is a different town
Above the bluff, Lemont has conventional later subdivision housing — wide streets, flat lots, long drives, lighter drywall-era debris. If that is where you are, everything above about grade and stone simply does not apply, and the job looks like New Lenox rather than like the old village.
So the one question we will ask is where in Lemont you are. Old village or up top. It changes the container, the placement and how long we allow for the delivery.
Do you need one in Lemont?
On your own driveway or property, no. On the street, in an alley or on the parkway, Lemont requires a permit — normally issued through Public Works, and issued to the property owner or contractor rather than to the hauler. We will tell you which applies before anything is scheduled. More on permits →
