Dumpster Rental in Cicero, Illinois
A dense, heavily built town with a long industrial history along its rail corridors and one of the tighter residential street grids in the county.

Cicero is built tight. The residential grid is one of the denser ones in Cook County, and the housing splits fairly evenly between bungalows and two-flats. That split is the first thing we ask about, because it roughly doubles the load from an identical footprint.
A single-family gut in a Cicero bungalow is a fifteen yard job, maybe two tens if the plaster is coming out. The same work across both floors of a two-flat is a twenty yard minimum and realistically a swap-out. Landlords turning a unit between tenancies usually know this already; owner-occupiers doing it for the first time almost never do.
Industrial history, residential debris
The town grew up around its rail corridors and the manufacturing that followed them, and that history still shapes the work. Away from the residential grid there are commercial and light industrial frontages where the job is a fit-out strip or a warehouse clear-down rather than a kitchen — different container, different placement, different hire length.
On the residential side it is the standard pre-war mix: plaster and lath, cast-iron radiators, old boilers that need draining before they move, and basements that have been converted at some point without much paperwork. Old boilers and furnaces are fine in a container once drained; the refrigerant in an old air conditioning unit is not, and that needs recovering by a certified technician first.
Parking is the real constraint
Street parking in Cicero is tight on almost every residential block. A container occupying a space is noticed immediately, and an unpermitted one will attract attention from the village well before your job is finished.
Right-of-way permits here are issued through the Building Department, and they are issued to the property owner or the contractor of record — not to us. What we will do is tell you plainly whether your intended placement needs one, which it almost certainly does if it is not on your own drive, and hold the delivery until you have it.
Where there is an alley, use it. It avoids the permit, avoids the parking argument, and gives the truck a cleaner run than most of these drives can offer.
Do you need one in Cicero?
On your own driveway or property, no. On the street, in an alley or on the parkway, Cicero requires a permit — normally issued through the Building Department, and issued to the property owner or contractor rather than to the hauler. We will tell you which applies before anything is scheduled. More on permits →
